Sammy Hassan or Sage as he is fondly called, is the leading voice and premier figure in the spoken word/performance poetry scene in West Africa.
Prior to being a performance poet, Sage, who became a newspaper journalist at 16, and later an artiste management executive in the then burgeoning music industry in Nigeria, he was a special reporter for Ovation, a popular African-focused magazine.
